National Racehorse Week
What is National Racehorse Week?
National Racehorse Week will be a nationwide celebration of the thoroughbred racehorse and will shine a light on the incredible levels of care provided to racehorses by our dedicated trainers and racing staff . By throwing open the doors of yards in a coordinated effort, racing will be able to showcase to the British public the best of what we do.
So we, at Girsonfield are throwing our doors open on the 12th September from 11.00 till 4.00pm all are welcome. The program will be as follows:
11:00am Introduction to the day
11.30am – See our staff riding some of our racehorses on our canter circle and then on our gallops.
12.00pm Meet our regular jockeys Nathan Moscrop and Sam Coltherd.
12.30pm – Our Farrier David Merry will do a demonstration of his shoeing.
1.00pm – What happens to horses after racing? Emma, our travelling head girl, gives a demonstration with her ex Racehorse Bilkos Back.
2.00pm Vet demo of the care of the horses at Girsonfield – showing the equipment and expertise available to us to give our horses the best chance of success.
2.30pm – 4.00pm a chance to meet the horses and the staff.
Catering will be provided by local caterers – ‘A La Kart‘
