Welcome to Girsonfield Stud & Racing

We are one of the leading Racing yards in the North-East. We offer modern facilities and training for both National Hunt and Flat horses.

Girsonfield was established in 1999 by Susan and Frank Corbett with the ambition of creating an affordable stud farm. From these origins Girsonfield has grown from stud to competitive racing yard. The team at Girsonfield retain a family orientated and professional perspective to achieve the full potential of every horse in our care in a safe and caring environment.

The Girsonfield Racing Club

The easy way to get involved with Racing – a club in which each member has between 5–10% shares of three horses for the current season. There are vacancies in this club for the current season! Starting at only £20.00 per week.

The horses in the club are Devour (40%). A winner last season over hurdles and 3rd in a hot Novice chase. He will continue his Chasing career in September/ October.

Avoid De Master (50%). A new boy to the yard joining us from Fergal O’Brian. He won over hurdles last season and we recently bought him at Goffs Doncaster. He runs first time over Fences on the 1st July at Perth.

Last but not least we have Drumfire (50%) another new boy, very well bred and looking at a career in Juvenile Hurdles.

Members of this club do not own the horses but lease them, have fun, and if there is money in the account at the end of the year it is divided out between the members on a pro rata basis.

Maximum membership 14 people x 10% shares to make up three horses at 40% Devour 50 % Avoid de Master and 50 % Drumfire.

You can find us on In The Paddock or use the form on the right to contact us.

The Goodfellow Partnership

The Nelson Racing Club

Named after our late friend John Goodfellow who was instrumental in building our all weather gallop. He told us we had to have one and then turned up with his digger! This made us more competitive and got the best out of our horses. His wife Elizabeth is in the syndicate along with Sheila, Steve, Jamie, Ron, Paul & Ian. Their horse Wor Verge was never out of the prize money last season (2020–2021) having six places and one win from eleven runs. He is currently on his summer break.

This club was created in the memory of our late friend and Owner Mr Jimmy Nelson – owner and breeder of the great Turbo Linn. Made up of his friends and supporters, this syndicate holds the yard record for the most money won in one race by Ebony Rose – £15,475 in the Northern Lights Stayers series final. She has gone on to breed a filly foal by Frontiersman and is in foal to Schiaparelli. The Club also have Tooyou, Linn’s Legacy and Blame Rose in their club to race this season.
